Sewing : Denim overall skirt - pattern combo

I bought denim fabric with the plan to make a pair of jeans, but it didn’t have the stretch that I was looking for, so I end up making an A-line skirt, look D (Simplicity 1370).

Then I saw a lot of pencil skirt overalls on my Instagram feed lately. I’ve been searching for similar patterns and I found Kwik Sew 4138 on Spotlight. I still have some leftover fabric from that project, so I came up with the idea of turning it into an overall by just adding overall bib to the skirt - I only need to trace the strap and front bib of the pattern.

The denim was very thick, so I made the facing for the waistband out of leftover cotton fabric - floral & elephant prints.

I thrifted the ruffle tops, which was initially a shift dress or maybe just a longer tops, it's hard to tell. I measured the desired length and just cut a straight line across it. I really love the swishy playful ruffles, especially when I move/dance.

There was a missing button, so I just replaced it white button that I had on my stash.

I'm really into overalls lately and I'm planning to make shorts or pants overalls. I think it's a great addition to my wardrobe, one that I can wear very often by mixing it with statement tops - ruffle or oversize sleeve tops.

Sewing Summary :

Pattern:
Simplicity 1370 - size 16, Kwik Sew 4138 - XS (only the bib part).
Fabric: Denim fabric
Notions: Threads, buttons, hook & eye and zipper.
Alterations: I used cotton fabric for the facing on waistband to reduce bulk.
Difficulty: Easy, the instruction is easy to follow, but the fabric choice makes it harder (thicker) to sew.
Make another one: Yes, shorts or pants overalls.
Notes: I did made toile before cutting the real fabric.
