How to draft Cami Top

If you'd followed me on Instagram, you probably knew that I made more of this cami top since my first. I had 3 cami tops so far and I'm constantly searching for more pretty fabric to make this top. I really can't get enough of it and it's perfect for the hot weather here.

I bought 1 meter of pink floral satin last year. When I saw it on the fabric scraps section for half the price, I snatched it right away.  It was quite sheer and I didn't have enough fabric for matching interfacing or lining, so I use leftover pink lining from my custom sewing fabric stash.

This is how I draft my own cami top. The pattern is pretty easy, it had no darts, since it's a loose top.
  • First. I trace front and back dress sloper.

  • Make shoulder strap 4" long in front and back.

  • Lower the armhole 1/2" - 1".

  • Add 1/2" on the side (bust and hips) , just draw a straight lines connecting the two.

  • Decide the length of the cami top. Mine is 24" long.

  • Add seam allowance to your pattern.
Pay extra attention to these details.
  • Make the shoulder strap and don't forget to topstitch the straps too.

  • Sandwich the strap between the front and back top. Sew it as close as the strap.

  • Snip on the round corner, then understitch the lining on the neckline and armhole. it helps the lining stay inside.
