Copy this look : Off Shoulder Dress
I picked this fabric from my stash that I bought earlier this year and it was a match made in heaven. My fabric is quite similar to the original dress. I made a similar dress in different style before.
With the help of my self drafted cami dress (it have the right fit and length), I made this dress in a short amount of time.
First, Trace front and back dress sloper.
Draw a straight line on the neckline.
Draft 2" shorter for the the lining.
Off shoulder part & elastic casing : (Shoulder measurement x 1.5 ) x 8"
Vertical pattern to make me look taller.[/caption]
It was quite boxy and loose, so no zipper was needed for this project. I like the length of the off shoulder part to be around my bust and I even use the frayed edges of my fabric for it.
Sewing Summary :
Pattern: Self-drafted pattern (pattern hacked from cami dress pattern).
Fabric: From my fabric stash, rayon / soft cotton.
Notions: Thread.
Alterations: -
Difficulty: Easy to draft and sew.
Make another one: Yes.
Notes: Extra steps for adding the lining as the fabric are quite sheer & try to reduce the bulk on the off shoulder part.
Do you recommend it for *Custom Sewing: Yes, the lining are needed if you have sheer fabric. $$$
